A list of local shops, by category, can also be found under Local Companies category. There are groups of shops at the Lockswood Centre, Park Gate, Dimmocks Corner, and Warsash. The largest group is at the Lockswood Centre. Shops here include Waitrose, Iceland (frozen food), a Post Office, newsagent, travel agent, dry cleaners, take away restaurants, chemist, building societies, and estate agents. There is also a petrol station, doctors surgery, old peoples centre, young peoples centre (Genesis), a pub, a library, and community buildings. Immediately to the north and west of the shopping centre is a small wooded area, and a childrens play park.

Park Gate is home to a cycle shop, bakery, florists, card shop, newsagents, hairdressers, petrol stations, banks and building societies. There is a small free car park, which can get very busy on Saturday mornings and weekday lunchtimes.

Dymocks Corner is a small group of shops which include hire tools, newsagents, and a floor covering shop.

Warsash has shops in two main groups. One is along Warsash Road, near the Reformed church. These shops include a butchers, and designer fashion shop. The other group is around the centre of Warsash and include newsagent, general store, chemist, restaurant, and an estate agent. The old clock tower is a prominent feature in the centre of Warsash.

About 7 miles west, along the M27, is the Hedge End shopping complex, with a very large Sainsbury and Marks and Spencer store, PC World, Homebase, carpet and furniture stores, and McDonalds, Pizza Hut, KFC and Burger King fast food restaurants.
